Meet Our Community Connectors
Community Connectors understand you and serve as your personal links to the Tucson Rapid Transit Study. They live, work and play where you do so they understand the area. Community Connectors provide knowledge, and valuable perspectives about the project. They host diverse community dialogues with small groups of residents at times and places that are convenient. They meet community members at places they congregate, such as transit centers, grocery stores, parks, libraries, or neighborhood events. They will gather community members' thoughts, ideas, and concerns and share them with the rest of the project team to guide the Tucson Rapid Transit Project.
Armando Sotelo
Born and raised in Tucson, AZ. Father of three 3-year-old triplets. I enjoy painting, riding, and hanging with my kids.
What’s your connection to this project corridor?
I am a fourth generation in Barrio Blue Moon.
Why do you love getting out into the community?
I love being outside with my community.
What’s your favorite place to eat in the area?
Juanito’s on Grant.
Erica Castaneda
I’m a mom of four. I was born and raised in Tucson.
What’s your connection to this project corridor?
I have lived at 1st and Grant for about four years.
Why do you love getting out into the community?
I love being out and meeting new people being able to make the community better while making getting around town better.
What’s your favorite place to eat in the area?
Robert’s Restaurant.
Michael “Slick” Edmonds
Mike is an active resident at the Tucson House, the Barrio Blue Moon Neighborhood, the Thrive in the 05 area, and Ward 3
What’s your connection to this project corridor?
I am a Tucson House resident and work at Ward 3.
Why do you love getting out into the community?
I love being outside with my community.
What’s your favorite place to eat in the area?
Anywhere with free wi-fi, and large tables.
Patricia Sanchez
Tucson born and raised. I have been riding public transportation for over 10 years.
What’s your connection to this project corridor?
I work and live within the corridor.
Why do you love getting out into the community?
Growing up with low resources, I know the value of community, working together to create the lives we want and deserve to live.
What’s your favorite place to eat in the area?
IOU Sushi, La Estrella Bakery, South 6th/12th food trucks/stands.
